ED’s Eastern Delight on Whalley New Road in Blackburn offers a casual fast food experience blending Indian flavours with the classic British love for burgers. It’s the kind of place where you can drop in for a quick bite that doesn't scrimp on spice or character. Their menu skews heavily towards gourmet smash burgers, with house specials like the Shad Chef’s Smash Burger and the Donner Smash Burger bringing something uniquely local to a fast food format.

The atmosphere here is easy-going and unpretentious, marked by friendly banter and a sense that you’re ordering from someone who genuinely enjoys chatting with customers. It’s clear that many who visit are regulars, drawn not just by the food but the personable vibe. Locals mention the owner’s banter as part of the experience, which adds a lived-in, neighborhood feel to the place. It’s not a formal sit-down restaurant, more a convenient spot to grab hearty, flavourful Indian-inspired meals—whether that’s a classic Chicken Tikka Masala or one of their signature burger boxes.

The food suits anyone looking for affordable comfort food with a spicy twist. The smash burger meals come highly recommended for those craving rich, juicy patties layered with bold sauces. There’s also a selection of Indian staples like lamb biryani, butter chicken, and karahi dishes, making it a flexible choice for both burger lovers and traditional curry seekers. The Ed’s Box meals and sharer boxes mean it works well for solo lunches or casual group dining alike.

While wait times can vary, especially without a pre-order, the consensus is that the food is worth the momentary pause. It’s particularly popular for takeaway, and the presence of distinctive sauces such as the so-called “angry dipping sauce” hints at an adventurous palate behind the scenes. The menu includes a spicy range that locals suggest could expand to include more intense options like Madras sauce, showing that ED’s Eastern Delight is tuned in to its customer base.

For anyone in Blackburn looking for quick, robust food that mixes Indian spice with the burger joint format, ED’s offers an inviting atmosphere that leans into local community vibes rather than polished restaurant finesse. Visit during lunch or early evening when the kitchen is buzzing but still managing a relaxed pace. Whether you want to try a smash burger meal, a classic curry, or a sharer box with mates, this spot feels rooted in its place, reflecting a fusion of tastes and personalities unique to Blackburn’s fast food scene.

I was recommended this place by a friend I went for the ed smash box was 10/10 for me. Only place in Bburn I know that do angry dipping sauce with the meal. The karaaiii sauce was a little sweet for me. Should add a madras sauce to the menu for the people that want a spicy sauce.

The food is really good for the price. Traditional Indian food and some amazing burgers. The owner likes banter. So it feels more welcoming. The smash burger meal is a steal at £6.50.

Paid a pretty good price for a chicken fillet burger meal and a curry with two rotis. But it was the daily offer so that's prob why... The burger itself was ok. For me it wasn't spicy enough for a spicy sizzler and could have benefitted from some chilli sauce. The chicken Tawa curry had a good taste to it with decent amount of chicken but the portion size was on the small size, its enough for one person not really for sharing. Would buy again... Update: Was passing buy and thought I'd go in and try their smash burgers as I read some good reviews. But overall I didn't think it was anything special. The buns are a nice change and the burger is large with two smashed patties. Initially you get an overall sweet taste possibly from the mayo or salad. I asked for chilli sauce but it didn't seem to spice it up much... once you get past those flavours the meat itself just tastes bland, definitely something missing salt or seasoning I'm not sure... I think I prefer the ones from King's Castle.
